The error codes related to the "throttle valve position sensor" can be split into two groups, illustrated below along with the related check
procedures.
THROTTLE VALVE POSITION SENSOR • OUT OF RANGE
The error appears when the value read by the sensor exceeds the permitted range.
We recommend you operate within the entire interval of the valve opening and that you perform a quick release check of the accelerator handle
since this could reveal other occasional errors.
Following is a series of routine checks:
• make sure the throttle valve sensor's connector is connected; if not, connect it securely;
• make sure the sensor is not loose; if so, tighten the sensor securely and reset the TPS;
• make sure the sensor is not damaged or worn; if so, replace the sensor and reset the TPS;
• check the connections related to the throttle valve sensor by using a multi-meter; if they are damaged, replace them.
THROTTLE VALVE POSITION SENSOR • LEARNING ERROR
The error appears when the value of the throttle valve's idle position is not within an acceptable range.
The problems that are detectable by an incorrect learning of the TPS can be the following:
• the vehicle shuts down when the accelerator lever is released quickly;
• the engine speed at idle is not within the limit;
• the engine does not work properly when it is partially loaded or at low speeds;
Following is a series of routine checks:
• the throttle valve position sensor was replaced, but the TPS was not reset; therefore, reset the TPS using the diagnostic tool;
• the throttle body was replaced, but the TPS was not reset; therefore, reset the TPS using the diagnostic tool;
• the injection control unit was replaced, but the TPS was not reset; therefore, reset the TPS using the diagnostic tool;
• the accelerator cable is too tight; repeat the calibration of the throttle valve control cable;
• make sure the sensor is not loose; if so, tighten the sensor securely and reset the TPS;
